Back to all posts Digging On ROOM I've been listening to the new album ROOM by Nels Cline and Julian Lage. It is a shining example of an instrumental guitar album that merges both composed and improvised pieces into a journey of emotion, excitement and profound contemplation. Each song is a story told by weaving arpeggios and shimmering chords punctuated by beautifully placed oddities. The biggest insight guitarists and students can gain from studying this duo project is recognizing how well these two listen to each other and the role that space plays in the effectiveness of this music. If you've never checked these guys out on their own this is a great place to start. If you're one of my students you've heard of Nels Cline. Leave a comment
